I just added the book Litchfield County Sketches, by Newell Meeker 
Calhoun (1906) to the books at my web site. The books are listed at the 
bottom of the history page.

This book contains 17 sketches of life in Litchfield County, but most 
would apply to all of the area as wll as Litchfield County.  These are 
all fairly small, so they make easy reading, and will give a little more 
insite into whare your ancestors lived.
